Mixed Media Sculpture: a rusted bolt from the old Coldwater River bridge, silver plate spoons, copper, red jasper, carnelian, green banded agate, and jade
Size: 20″ x 44″ x 2″
Date Completed: July 2019
Statement: The only documented nesting of the Willow Flycatcher in Mississippi occurs at Coldwater River National Wildlife Refuge. I have sculpted each bird and some of the leaves from silver plate spoons I bought one Summer at Coldwater Trade Days. Copper, carnelian, red jasper, jade and green banded agate suggest the colors of nature where these birds choose to visit during their pre and post-breeding migratory season. Everything hangs from an old rusted bolt taken from the old Coldwater River bridge.
